International Marriage for UK Residents
UK residents often contact us where a partner is in Pakistan, the Middle East, Europe, Canada, the USA or another country. The key questions are where the marriage should legally take place, whether either party must attend personally, what official record will be issued and what further steps are needed before that record is used in the UK.

Online Marriage for UK Couples
“Online marriage” should not be treated as a universal UK legal category. A couple may participate remotely in a process permitted by another jurisdiction, or technology may be used for document preparation and communication while the legal marriage remains anchored in a particular country.
A video call by itself should not be assumed to create a marriage that will automatically be recognised in the UK. The underlying legal basis must be established first. See Online Marriage Services.
Proxy Marriage and Marriage Through Attorney
Where one partner cannot travel, a lawful proxy or attorney route may be considered if the proposed marriage jurisdiction permits representation. The power of attorney may need specific wording and overseas execution formalities. See Proxy Marriage & Marriage Through Attorney.
Pakistan Marriage for UK-Based Couples
Where Pakistan is the appropriate jurisdiction, our associated teams in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi can assess the available marriage route and coordinate documentation, representation, registration and certificates where legally available.
Pakistan-based matters may include Muslim Nikah, court-marriage guidance, Christian or Hindu marriage documentation, special powers of attorney and marriage registration. Pakistan is an operational jurisdiction for E-Marriages; we do not represent that we currently maintain a physical E-Marriages office in the UK.
Marriage by Religion for UK Clients

Marriage Certificate for UK Use
An overseas marriage may need an official marriage certificate, registration record, certified copy or translation before it can be used for a UK purpose. The exact evidential requirements depend on the authority receiving the document and the reason it is being submitted.

UK Recognition of an Overseas Marriage
Recognition of an overseas marriage is a legal question separate from the ceremony itself. The receiving authority may consider whether the parties had legal capacity, whether the marriage complied with the law of the place where it was contracted and whether any public-policy issue arises.
E-Marriages does not promise automatic recognition merely because a foreign marriage certificate has been issued.
Marriage and UK Immigration
A marriage certificate may be important evidence in a spouse-visa or family immigration matter, but marriage validity and immigration eligibility are separate issues. Immigration authorities may request additional evidence concerning the relationship, identity, previous marriages, registration or authenticity of documents.

Can I marry someone in Pakistan while I remain in the UK?
Possibly, depending on the marriage type and whether the applicable procedure permits representation or another remote arrangement. The facts must be reviewed first.
Is an online marriage automatically valid in the UK?
No. The validity of the underlying marriage and the UK treatment of the marriage must be considered. A video ceremony alone should not be treated as an automatic guarantee.
Can I use a Pakistan marriage certificate in the UK?
Potentially, but the receiving authority may require the correct registration record, certified translation or additional authentication. The underlying marriage must also be legally valid.
Do you have an office in the UK?
